House of Alchemy

Opened in January 2017, husband-wife duo Brendan and Lynn Hancock, and co-owner Cody Alexander, have created quite the oasis off of 215 and Flamingo. If you’re looking for a coffee shop/juice bar/healthy vegan dining in a breathtaking and chill setting, House of Alchemy is just what the doctor ordered.

Built literally by hand (Brendan, who hails from Australia, has a background in construction and design), House of Alchemy is just what this part of the Valley needs. And, we couldn’t be happier. Seriously. Since it soft-opened, we have spent more time there eating all the food, drinking the juices and nut milks and coffees, and working with some gorgeous sunshine streaming in courtesy of the floor-to-ceiling windows than we have anywhere else.

Let’s break down what you need to order. If you’re looking for coffee, House of Alchemy has the basics and a few more, and dairy-free milk options. But, what we really love are all the options which are geared to improving our health. They’ve got a massive menu of juices (Brendan is a bit of an expert in that realm and even offers custom cleanses) and smoothies, plus four vegan nut milks to choose from. Personal favorite: Under the Sea, a gorgeous blend of water, coconut water, cashews, almonds, dates, vanilla bean, spirulina and Himalayn salt.

While their menu is still a work in progress, House of Alchemy has acai bowls and a rotating menu of goodness for breakfast, lunch and early dinners. Think salads, quinoa, overnight oats and more.

But, perhaps the best thing is this sunny spot makes eating desserts healthy. Er. All of their sweets are raw, organic (the entire menu is!) and free of refined sugar. Our hands-down must-eat-immediately-or-you-will-regret-it pick is the strawberry cheesecake made with coconut meat and topped with a hard shell of dark chocolate.

They even have customized juice cleanses. We did a two-week cleanse and loved it.

Those in-the-know have been flocking here since January, and now we’re sharing this little secret with the rest of the world.
